James, thanks for great article!! Too bad more people aren’t familiar with what Madison wrote. This article is surely needed as an explanation to help people understand what we are experiencing as this presidential campaign twists, turns and spins out of control.
You’re welcome, Mickey, and thanks for your kind words. At the least, hopefully my article inspires people to go read and learn about Madison themselves.
Thank you, Patrick, that’s a great question. Considering that England’s break from Rome was deeply influenced by political and social drama (as opposed to theological differences), I would argue in the affirmative. And while my knowledge about this topic is still quite limited, I’ll risk saying that Madison would argue the same. Would love to hear your own thoughts on the matter.
Thanks for the response. My immediate thought was the same, that the break from Rome was pretty much all about “power politics” more so than theological differences. But I’m no expert, or even serious student, so I thought I would throw it out there. Thanks again!

Brilliant! I wonder if Madison counted the Church of England as “…a religion founded in human policy”?

I was delighted and edified by your article. Already wrote a long comment which evaporated due to my Luddite technology tendencies.
Glad to hear it, Dad! I'm surprised your Luddite tendencies didn't lead you to take a sledge hammer to this article.
