He who was sought from afar by the wise
Torches and knives now plot his demise
·
Conniving, contriving, brood of vipers, the malice
Following God’s Will, he accepts earthly chalice
·
Day of darkness, day of tempest, day of rain, day of pain
The day we call “good”, that first began with Cain
·
In the garden, Tree of life, from which we first betrayed
Now to Golgotha, Tree of death, the vessel here to save
·
Dressed with thorns, the Jerusalem women wails
Shouts of “Crucify Him, Crucify Him!” the real nails
·
Though human form, a loving divine gaze
Through Incarnation, the body raised
·
The moment of sacrifice, the Lamb supplied
A new Covenant made by Him who died
·
For we are denier, we are doubter
Cries of “Hail Caesar” grow louder
·
We are betrayer, we are beloved
We are centurion, behold loving mother
·
In “IT IS FINISHED” we are participants
The greatest story designed in His Omnipotence
·
Pierced by a sword, pierced by the lance
Pierce the clouds of darkness, Heaven’s entrance
·
Descent to the dead, the triumphant march
Abraham, Moses, David enter celestial arch
·
Screams from below, the “Terror” made known
The snake now trampled, that age-old foe
·
Veil torn, the temple’s destruction
The joyful dawn comes, HIS RESURRECTION!
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right and of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
