Dear Crew,
February is already in our wake. At this rate, the year 2024 will soon be behind us as well. The years fly by so quickly and it feels like only yesterday that the Protestant Reformation happened.
Were you there? Maybe.
Was I there? No. But five-hundred years isn’t that long ago when you think about the speed with which each year passes by.
Why am I talking about the Reformation? It happens to be the monthly theme for this March.
The Reformation:
Historians explain to us that the Reformation was not so much a matter of a singular reformation, even if there was a decisive moment with a singular figure, but a matter, process, and interplay of reformations and counter-reformations. Either way, it was a wild time and we’re going to write about it. Whether you are Catholic or Protestant (or atheist, Hindu, Scooby-Dooist, or anything else), we kindly invite you to engage with us by leaving comments on our posts with questions or objections. We respectfully ask, however, that you do not pin your 95 theses to our comment section.
My wild card prediction for this month is that my brother Joe will come out of left field, agree with John Calvin, begin another reformation — “revolution” might be a better term — and begin a new Protestant branch (as if it was a creative thing to do): O’Reilly-ism. At this point, Matthew will have no choice but to burn Joe at the stake. Take this story and run with it as you see fit.
We’re excited to sail into this month with you!
